Retreat Days

Year 2 Advent Retreat Day

On Thursday 30th November 2023 both Year 2 classes took part in an Advent Retreat Day. The children were each given a part of the Nativity story and had to retell it using scripture and traditional Carols. Each class produced their own Advent calendar from artwork depicting the key parts of the story. We also wrote prayer dedications to the people that help us that we will say during the Advent period.

Year 6 Retreat Day to Holy Rood Church

In September both Year 6 classes attended a retreat day at Holy Rood Church. This was based on leadership and what leadership means to us. The children discussed some of the Catholic Social Teachings, such as, Solidarity and Peace, Human Dignity and Community and Participation. The children thought about what each one of these means for them and how we can show these in our everyday lives. The children also attended midday Mass with Father Tim.

EYFS

Nursery and Reception spent the day learning about the events of Pentecost. They completed some lovely creative activities to go along with the story.

Year 2 Advent Retreat Day

The children took part in a retreat where they reflected on Advent as a time of preparation for the birth of Jesus. They worked together to produce beautiful illustrations that told the nativity story, these were then used for the class R.E display.

Year 4 Retreat Day in Aylesford

Year 4 visited Aylesford Friary. Whilst they were there the children visited the different chapels and the peace garden. In the afternoon, the children all visited The Rosary Way. This is a place of peace and prayer where they saw ceramics created by the Polish artist, Adam Kossowski. The Rosary Way shows images from the Joyful, Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries. There is also a shrine of Our Lady presenting the scapular to St Simon Stock. The children were able to use their knowledge from studying the Rosary all year when reflecting at each of these ceramics.

Year 5 Stations of The Cross

Year 5 took part in a retreat day at St. Michaels and All Angels.  We visited each devotion in the Stations of the Cross and had time to quietly reflect on each one.  The children created art work relating to a specific station to display back at school.
